I'm curious if anyone still even bothers to check this message board. If you do, I appologize for not having posted anything for a while. I might be able to breath life into the campaign again (at the rate of one post per week). Which begs the question: Is it worth the effort?
If you're still listening, go ahead post a reply so we can all know who is interested.

I'm listening...um, well actually this is the first time in about a week I've logged on. ^^; I'm partly at fault for it going nowhere though; I can't seem to keep up with my posts.

You're not at fault. There's been nothing to keep up with.

If we do revitalize the PBP (or even if we just re-start it) I think I can do better if I just bag the rules altogether. It should be easier for me to maintain that way.

I check almost every day, but am sad when there is no posty. As long as we play by some set of rules I don't care. While I've been waiting for this place to continue I've been continueing to run my pbp Mage game on another board. It's going pretty good still. For a momment I thought this place had died out completely and no one would ever post here again except to inform everyone of another missfortune. I'm glad to see it alive again.

Here's what I'm thinking for rules.
1. I rebuild everyone's character (based on thier synopsis they sent me), giving them a rating of -1, 0, or +1; 1 being good and -1 being bad.
2. Whenever someone does something that I feel needs a roll, I will assign a -1, 0 or +1 to the task; depending upon how easy or outlandish I think the task is.
3. Then I roll 1d6, assuming I roll at all, and apply the afforementioned mods. If I roll better than 4 you win. If not, you lose. Simple as that.
4. As for hit points, damage and whatnot, I'll make on the spot decisions with an eye toward advancing the plot.
Skills and stats are still up in the air, and any suggestions you have would be appreciated. I just want to keep it simple.
Silhouette's nice and all, but it's still a little cumbersome for a pbp (I've learned that there tends to be a lot of dice involved).

As you likely already know, and if you don't you do now, I run a Mage: the Ascension campaign as a pbp on another board. It also has a lot of dice involved, and for a while I didn't have the rule book and so didn't know what rolls I needed to make or when. I have to books now, but that's besides the point.
I don't know if this will work for you Galadare, but this worked for me.
Instead of rebuilding everyone's char, which sounds like ALOT of work to me, you could just leave them as they are. You can even still used the Silhouette’s rules. Well mostly.
What I do with my Mage game, is basically still use the same rules from the rulebook, but I honestly don't make all the rolls it says. Instead I check out their char sheets and assign a difficulty to the task. I then figure the likely hood that said char could actually pull it off. It it's likely enough I just say he succeeds and it he doesn't then he fails. I award damage as it seems reasonable to me. Once in a while if it's close or just on a whim I'll actually make the roll the rules say I'm supposed to. Honestly, most of the time I don't do ANY rolls.
If I need a char to make or not something for my plot, well then they do or don't as the case maybe.
It seems to work well on my board. I haven't gotten any complaints about it either.
So my advice to you is don't rebuild the chars. Use the system we've already been using, but don't always do the rolls. If with whatever they have on their char sheets they have a good likelihood to make it or you need them too for your plot, then just say they make it. If not then they don't. It's that simple. It's quick and easy. You don't spend a lot of time rolling dice unless you want to roll the dice for something.
That way you can use the skills, stats, and all of that which are already present on everyone's char sheet, and they increase like normal. For the most part you're even still staying true to the rules of the game. Personally, I think this way is simpler than the one you are planning to use. You’re just modifying it to work as a PBP.
In the end it's up to you. Do what you think best. This is only my suggestion. It works for me, but that doesn't mean that it will work for you.

The fact that you're willing to put so much text to the idea is good enough for me, I'll give it a go and see what happens.
I'll post on Saturday. I just need to find a good song...

I understand. Don't tell anyone playing a PC in my mage campaign, but sometimes I've had them fight an important villian or one I intend to hang around for a while without completly finishing his char sheet first... I'm doing that right now actually. I discovered with a PbP game. There is time inbetween posts of players and the GM to finish the char sheet of the villian sometimes...
I'm so bad aren't I?
