"It was them or me," he shrugs, "you know how it goes.
"So, am I in or not?

"Sure you're in Colonel. You survive you are free to go, you just can't come back to Earth you know that right? If you impress me enough I may have room on a Skadi squad for you. I was impressed with your pilot record."

"Sounds good Captain," he says.
Unless you have anything else to say to him, you call the guards and instruct them to take Garrett to the hangar. They obey and return with Kennith Pearson, the next red on Tanaka's list.
"Here you are sir," he says as he sets a datapad on the table and sits down, "Here's what you asked for."
His testimony is brief and to the point. Apparently, military hardware is highly valued on the black market and there are a few groups of "freedom fighters" (as well as a pair of retirement accounts) in the League that he felt weren't funded well enough. He doesn't specify exactly which groups other than to say that none of them operate in the Sol system (that would just be foolish, cause then he'd have to go fight them).

"One more question Pearson... define freedom." Beamer give a half cracked smile, he is more intrigued with this idea than angered by it. Having lived on the Skadi outskirts for most of his life has taught him that these parts are needed and that freedom is very fuzzy in the outer edges of the known verse.

"We'll sir," he licks his lips, "A man government shouldn't repress his religion. Take Skadi's actions on New Caanan. No government has the right to exterminate religious officials in the streets and force itself upon the people."
You've fought on New Caanan. There's a grass-roots group that wants to revive the worship of some pre-christian god from the middle-east on Earth. They've also been undermining the Skadian governorship and resorting to extortion, piracy and terrorism to advance their goals. The general opinion of Skadian forces is that its better to be captured by the cannibalistic Thalmarr. At least then you'd be dead when they roasted you on a spit.

"So what do you think of myself? Being a captain of the Skadi naval forces?" He is very interested in allowing others their opinion and to live with it in peace.
He does agree that the navy has done more damage than needed. He was actually reprimanded once for not killing an entire settlement of these worshipers. Beamer just could not kill off terrified women and children.
Beamer smiled remembering that if he were ever captured by that group, he may have a chance to be dead when on the spit.

For a brief moment, the hope fades from his face when he discovers you are Skadian Officer. That moment ends when he bursts out of his chair and lunges at you faster than you though possible with his restraints. You manage to get your gun out but he knocks your hand aside in an attempt to bind your wrist in his cuffs. This fails but still leaves you without an immediate shot.
The intended conclusion of his lunge was a head butt that you handily avoid, sending him flying past you. He lands kind of hard, but still manages to regain his feet.
He says something uncomplimentary about your heritage and nationality, while preparing to lunge again.

Beamer smugly replies, "This is why most of the other officers in our fleet think you are a savage race and faith sir. If it appeases your god to kill me instead of finding a way to build a strong presence of your faith. Well then I guess I found that I was wrong about your kin."
Still having his laser pistol in his hand set on stun he fires at his knee. This will generally take down a man in an unconscious state, but at the least it should cripple him for a few hours.
**If Beamer has the chance to tell Pearson even in a knocked out state he will say**
"Blind hatred and malice will never build a force to heal, I am willing to help your people build their empire (if there is another word that should be used let me know as Beamer would study such things), but I must know that at least a small number of them really want to build their faith instead of destroy supposed infidels." He likes the passion this man has, if only there is a way to help him build his faith without killing all that do not believe.

Maybe he's good, or maybe it's the concentration you spent on that pretty speech, but your shot narrowly misses Pearson. He shuffles to one side and lunges again. You again avoid his attack, but this time narrowly. While he fails to connect, he still remains close enough to you to that it may be difficult to get a good shot.

Because Beamer doesn't have much time to react he tries to smack his opponent on the temple with the butt of his gun, and prepares to dodge another attack.
It is obvious that this man is mad with anger and has no reason besides hatred.
