Z.B.: The conference room is still mostly empty when you arrive, but it is still abuzz with chatter. Holographic name tags hover above most of the chairs, which are organized in concentric tiers like a miniature stadium. A soldier serving as an usher shows you to one above which floats the words: "Zelda Baxter, Doctor. PhD Xenosociology." You notice that your name floats between that of "Donaldo Hernandez, PhD Genetics," and "Perry Johnston, Admiral. Commanding Officer, Blockade Fleet." You also note the name of Dr. Han floating on the far side of Dr. Hernandez. You see the Spaniard in the center of the room, sitting on the desk labeled "Miguel Rodriguez, Colonel, Ret. Ranking Hunter". On either side of him float the labels "Sebastian Von Kreiger. Hunter." and "Jonathan Andrews, Captain, Ret. Hunter."Rabbi: You arrive at the briefing at the appointed time and take your seat next to the Spaniard. You note that on his other side there is a holographic label identifying Beamer's seat. It says he's a Hunter... There is little else for you to do at the moment, but the Spaniard will get things rolling at the moment. Beamer: The rest of the Psychological examination goes relatively smoothly, and culminates the Doctor writing what looks like "close enough" on her official report. When she ushers you out of the room, you find Captain Tanaka waiting for you. "How'd it go flyboy," he says and tosses you duffel, "You'll find the documents you requested inside."In addition to said documents, the duffel contains a set of pilot's fatigues, your blaster, and a small rubber doll whose eyes bulge out when squeezed. "Hunter Rodriguez has called a briefing with the top brass and other key officials," he says, "I'm supposed to escort you there. It should be quite informative; but we've got a few minutes, so we'd best be quick about it."[OOC: If you find you have nothing to say, relax. I'm going to have to do this in pieces. If you have nothing to post, just wait. I'll try to have the next piece up by Wednesday, but I'll post it for sure next weekend.]

Beamer reads the documentation. He is satisfied with it and gets fully dressed with guns and all. "Where can I get some coffee? Looking at these documents I believe this will be an event I should pay attention." Upon obtaining 1.5 L of coffee, Andrew's heads to the briefing. He apologizes to ZB for his prior behavior and sits quietly in his chair. He looks very distubed and anxious to get out of this meeting but he is quite enough.

Z.B., used to attending similar conferences, finds her seat and settles down to wait. She looks up with surprise when Beamer comes over to apologize, and murmurs something in acceptance of it. As he walks back over she sighs, quietly muttering to herself about the side effects of modern-day bone-regeneration medications.
When Dr. Hernandez sits down beside her, she makes small talk, adding to the low murmur of voices filling the conference room. "Is it always so dry on this part of the planet? I feel like I'm going to evaporate."

ZB: The ghostly image of a man in uniform appears in the chair next to you. There is a subtle softness to his chiseled features and the only sign of age you can detect is a slight graying of the dark hair at his temples. In stark contrast to the deep blue of his jacket, the pins on his chest display even more color than a Tesaadi fruit salad. He looks around and chuckles at discovering that they gave him an isle seat. When he sees you he looks you over and smiles, then says: "Hi, I'm Perry."Beamer: You take your seat just as the last of the vacancies fill with ghostly holograms. The Spaniard gives you a nod then stands up and clears his throat. All: "Ladies and gentlemen: Thank you for attending, but the situation is grim so we'll get down to business."
"Earth is in grave peril. As many of you know, Dr. Donaldo Hernandez has been heading the research into the now infamous Quebec Fever. Dr. Hernandez, if you please:"The Spaniard sits down and Dr. Hernandez stands up. "Ladies and Gentlemen," he clears his throat, "I, um... My research indicates that Quebec Fever is artificial. It is caused by a virus that is designed to mutate the human genome into something else. The symptoms of Quebec Fever are, in truth, the symptoms of the human immune response to altered cells."At this a murmur of surprise fills the room. (OOC: I'll pause here in case someone wants to make a response. *Evil Grin*)

Beamer, unlike what all have seen in his past in this room, sits quietly looks around and then says, "I assume the genome is not being mutated into fuzzy bunnies. So what is the mutation trying to change the genome into?" His expression is very stern an monotone.

Rabbi will just try to think as to why the hell beamer became hunter, and try to pay attention to the briefing.

Dr. Hernandez pauses momentarily, a slightly confused look on his face as though Beamer's question was the last thing he expected, "Well, Hunter; it's a...it's a sort of, um, human/gog'tha hybrid. But that's not really the point. I was about to add that such a mutation would be very difficult to achieve in an organism more complicated than an embryo. I mean, were talking about hundreds of billions of specialized cells. Each of which requires that very specific changes happen at more or less the same time. Incredibly difficult to accomplish, but relatively easy to disrupt. Now that we've successfully mapped the virus' genome, Dr. Han and I should be able to develop a counter-virus that can control, or even eliminate Quebec Fever."
"Of course," he continues, "The problem is that the man who created this virus is a genius of no small note. I fear that until he is brought to justice; anything that Dr. Han and I could do would be temporary at best. A mind capable of developing the fever would eventually be able to overcome our counter virus. He could then release an updated strain of Fever that could very well be even worse than the one we're facing now."
Seated to Hernandez's left, Dr. Han nods her head absently.

"I see two solutions. 1- We negotiate which can take many months, and would lead to the same result as my second solution; which is to send in a team of special ops to eleminate the head of the problem and wait out the virus. Now I would suggest the second solution for faster closure, but if this virus mutates we would not be in any better a situation." He sits intently and waits for a reply.

The Spaniard puts a hand to his ear as he receives a transmission. While the projection of a woman labeled "Holly Collins, President. United Nations." begins oozing sarcasm from her pores when she says: "Oh my, Hunter Andrews, such an excellent plan," the president begins, "Elegant in it's simplicity. But, I just have one question. Once you've gathered your merry band of heroes, where do you propose to lead them?"
Before she can continue, the Spaniard claps his hands once to steal the spotlight.
"Ah the enthusiasm of youth," he says, "Look at him, he's so excited he can barely contain himself. Unfortunately, the virus isn't our only concern. I have recently received word that Cousteau City has been attacked by...something very big. And completely unfriendly."
Admiral Johnston clears his throat, "My fleet has managed to get thermal and super-photo images of the beastie. Intel thinks it weighs 400 tons."
Beamer: The Spaniard leans over and whispers in your ear, "Killing it will be your job. But right now there's a young woman in D block who says she's a friend of yours. She urgently wants to see you. Says it's important, so hop to."

Captain Andrews stands respectfully. "I will need Betty to take care of this beast. I hope she is being transported from the Mars Colonies now." He salutes and walks to the door pausing as he leaves, "Where else would you look for the problem but in the head or heart. Most infections will spread quickly from those points. I suggest that the problem might be closer than we think... possibly even in this room. On the other hand they might be in the head, which could be on the fringes of the Skadi frontier. I simply take care of the small jobs, if you want me to give you a solution to the entire problem I would create a detainee camp and anyone who does mutate will be transported there or killed. It is that easy. If you do not quickly impliment this you will have anarchy and chaos ruling as opposed to the confusion that is not the law. Let me know what you need after I take care of the 400 ton puppy. I am sure it just needs some Betty love."
With that he walks down to see which airhead claims to be his friend, greatful to be out of the meeting where he felt that he would eventually brought to solve the entire problem. He was so tired of solving problems on his own. He wanted a team that could work toward a solution. Piracy was sounding better every day...
