"I have already made arrangements to deal with the fish," the Spaniard addresses the audience as Beamer leaves, "I've given the task to Hunter Andrews. He's a skilled combat pilot and quite resourceful.""Hunter Rodriquez," Admiral Jonston interrupts, "As long as we're on the subject of orbital surveillance, there is another topic I would like to address."The Spaniard nods for the admiral to continue. "I have insisted that Doctor Baxter be present at this meeting because my fleet's sensors have detected some unusual activity in the Congo Wildlife Preserve."The image of a large humanoid creature appears in the center of the room. It is largely gorilla like in appearance but has longer legs and a less pronounced brow.

Z.B. breaks off her quiet conversation with Dr. Hernandez at the sound of her name being spoken. She stands up, glancing from the holographic image to the Admiral and back again. "Me, sir? But I'm a Xenobiologist. This is clearly a mutated Earth creature." She goes on to point out some of the traits of the beast which mark it as being of Terran origin - quickly losing most of the audience with her erudite terminology.
She realizes she is only making herself seem even more knowledgeable on the subject and checks herself. "...That said, I can't give any advice on what to actually do about something like this."

The admiral smiles knowingly, "I mentioned it not because of what they are, but what they are doing. Satellite reconnaisance indicates that they are building villages on mountain slopes near Kilamangaro. Thermal imaging has detected what intelligence thinks may be forges or kilns. Not only are these creatures sentient, they appear to have developed a level of technology roughly equivalent to our bronze age," he arches an eyebrow, "Interested now?"

Z.B. finds herself all but gaping. She stares at the image in astonishment, takes her glasses off and looks again. "That's preposterous. It would take years for any culture to reach that kind of..." She trails off, then fixes her gaze on Admiral Johnston in shock. "Just how long have these people been playing their games?" She mutters something under her breath which sounds like a 'curse you, Julian', and then takes a deep breath.
She gets right to the point. "And I suppose you want me to go and make contact with them?"

"You make it sound like such a chore," Admiral Jonston replies, "This could very well be the greatest event of our time in the field of Xenosociology, and the quarantine has landed you with a monopoly on the fieldwork."The Admiral's image leans back in his chair. "Now, I'll admit that the timing of this couldn't possibly be a coincidence. The potential for this lead it too great to be ignored, and there is no one on this planet who is more qualified to follow it than you are Doctor." At this point, the Spaniard takes over. "Of course, Dr. Baxter, we wouldn't presume to send you alone into such a potentially dangerous situation. Should you agree to this, I'll place Hunter Von Kreiger, and any other resources you may need, at your disposal."

Z.B. composes herself after a moment and responds, "It would be an honor. I certainly appreciate any resources that I may draw upon. I'll have to make up a list, of course..." She pretends to be pacified and sits down to open up her laptop, ostensibly compiling her list of needs. In reality, she's running a search to figure out where exactly this 'Kilamanjaro' place is. She breathes a sigh of relief when she discovers that Africa is a nice, warm place, and though not as wet as she'd like, is certainly better than this 'Texas' region. Then she settles down to making her list.

There seems to be little else on the meeting's agenda and the Spaniard soon wraps it up.
ZB: As the room empties, Admiral Jonston's ghostly image leans toward you. "Good luck in Africa, Doctor," he says before his image fades out of existence.
In the meantime, the Spaniard approaches you with Rabbi in tow. "Take this with you." He says and hands you a pocket computer, "This palm is configured to receive up-to-the-minute satellite intelligence on the Tanzania Prefecture. It also contains all the observed Data regarding these Gog'tha hybrids. Finally, there is a panic button hidden in the battery compartment. Press that, and the proverbial cavalry will come running. If you have any questions, Rabbi here would be more than happy to help you." He turns to leave and pauses briefly, "Oh, once you've finished your list, get it to Rabbi, pronto. I'd like you to leave as soon as humanly possible." After which he leaves like he's going to be late for his own funeral.

Z.B., not normally flustered, has recovered her composure and her resolve, and though she still has a tingle at the back of her neck, she takes the small computer with a firm hand. Slipping a data chip into her laptop, she clicks a few buttons and spits it back out again. "No need; I'm already finished!" she calls out to the retreating Hunter's back. She waits for Rodriguez to glance back before tossing him the chip. "Remember; you said anything!" she adds with a mischevious grin.
That finished, she quickly transfers all the pertinent data on the palm to her laptop, and backs up a few files onto the palm as well. Just in case.
